Center for Architecture & Design Logo September 9, 2011

Chosen amongst design firms across North Carolina, 828 recently created the identity for the new AIA North Carolina Center for Architecture and Design. The center located in Raleigh, NC will be a multifaceted facility promoting architecture among peers, the general public and the legislators of NC. The building’s iconic form served as inspiration. It has been an honor and privilege to work with some of North Carolina’s most talented architects in the development of the logo.

National Ad Campaign Reinvigorates August 15, 2011

Hickory White’s licensed brand, Lillian August, looked to 828 to help art direct and design their latest national ad. The ad placed this summer in Traditional Home and resulted in energizing and reintroducing Lillian August to a consumer who might have only known the brand for its classic antique reproductions. A noticeable uptick in web traffic as well as sales on the table and chairs in the ad have been credited to the creative. Look for more ads running in Architectural Digest and other shelter publications.

Continued Relationship with Brainline.org July 15, 2011

Recently launched BrainLineMilitary.org provides military-specific information and resources on traumatic brain injury to veterans, service members, and their families. Through video, webcasts, articles, personal stories, research briefs, and current news, those whose lives have been affected by TBI can learn more about brain injury symptoms and treatment, rehabilitation, and family issues associated with TBI care and recovery. 828 is honored to help develop a tool for the many proud service members and their families dealing with TBI.

Building the Burgerworx Brand July 1, 2011

828 worked with restaurant owners Mellisa Launch and Carole Bowers to launch their latest endeavor in Asheville: Burgerworx. This casual eatery takes burger-building to a whole new level. With the direction of fun, fast and tasty, 828 helped create branding that stands out in the ever cluttered Asheville food scene. 828 also helped choose several of the interior finishes in the restaurant.

NC BioBusiness Center & Lab Identity May 30, 2011

With a desire for a cohesive identity representing the center as well as the lab, the Center turned to 828. The Center has established collaborations with industry and economic development officials throughout North Carolina. Current active industry support collaborations focus on traditional biotechnology and life science companies, organic, local and sustainable agriculture, biofuels and the natural products industry sectors. Among the many collaborators the Center partners with are: AdvantageWest, Blue Ridge Food Ventures, Gaia Herbs, Biofuels Center of NC, the NC Biodiesel, Herb and Natural Products Associations, NCSU's Mountain Horticultural Crops Research & Extension Center, the Small Business Technology and Development Center, and the Western Region Education Service Alliance.

Launching a New Brand with Old Roots May 4, 2011
Lexington Home Brands chose 828:design to help launch the new furniture brand, Henry Link Trading Co. The brand creates and markets unique and exotic furniture that reflect every corner of the globe–all hand selected by a group of well-traveled collectors and designers. 828 worked closely with Lexington’s marketing department to create everything from the identity to elements that are leather stamped and printed on interiors of trunks. Ads designed and placed in Furniture Today resulted in a 30% increase in showroom traffic.

Carlos Moldanado recently completed a mentor program with 828:design. It was refreshing for us to see such an eager, talented high school student as he explores his interests in photography and graphic design. Carlos participated in 828’s internal critique and produced two logos as well as a senior project book while with us. We look forward to following his path as he heads to college next year.

Alchemy for Leaders chooses 828:design to give their Materials a Professional Look March 4, 2011

828 Spans the Country in Search of Climatologists January 2011
For the seventh year, 828 has collaborated with Bonesteel Films to create a dynamic video and printed annual report for the Climate Database Modernization Program. This program is responsible for digitizing all climate-related records dating back to the 1700s. This year Tom Petruccelli and the Bonesteel crew interviewed climatologists and filmed in Beltsville, MD, Santa Cruz, CA and Seattle, WA. Among the topics for data rescue this year: bird migration, shoreline mapping and fish counts.

CDMP – 10th Anniversary January 4th, 2010

For the sixth year in a row, 828 has produced the Annual Report for NOAA’s Climate Database Modernization Program (CDMP). This edition was special in that it’s the 10th Anniversary of the program. CDMP is responsible for archiving national (and some international) climate related data that dates as far back as the 1700’s. This is both a print report as well as a DVD presentation. We partnered with Bonesteel Films of Asheville, NC to produce the video.

Taking Life and Business Up a Notch January 4th, 2010
